Pacific Northwest 4 Wheel Drive Association
SUV Event 2005
Camping
Jen and I headed out for a weekend of wheeling in Tillamook, Oregon.
We couldn't make to this event last year so this year we were determined
to make it.
For the
month beforehand I worked feverishly getting my Cherokee and the trailer
ready for the trip. After weeks of busted knuckles and a sore
back from installing rocker guards and a front bumper I was quite ready
get the Jeep out on the trail. |

We hitched up the
pop-up trailer and set off. A few hours later we arrived at the
Tillamook RV Park
just off of Highway 101, two miles south of town.
After
setting up
camp in site H14, I got most of our gear ready for Saturday's wheeling. |

The RV park
is back dropped by this HUGE Air Museum. We were told it is an old
blimp hanger from WWII that had been converted to a museum. Jen and
I went to check it out but it didn't look like it was worth what they were
charging for admission so we skipped going in. |

As other
groups started to arrive we made our way around to check out the rigs and
meet people.
At first I was wondering what the hell I had got
ourselves into. Looking at the rigs below I though my Jeep was in
for a whoopin'. I found out later that most of the hard core rigs
were people helping with the event but even so I was still a bit
apprehensive. |

On our
walkabout we met John (and his wife) from
Roberson Motors.
He gave a
tour of the Mopar trailer and showed us this Wrangler that Jen hopped into
for the picture. Too bad it isn't hers.
This TJ
is a "company car" of all things. It has an 8" Fabtech lift, Rubicon 44
front axle, the new factory Jeep bumpers and rocker guards, and a bunch of
other mods. |

That
evening we had a potluck BBQ. The wind was blowing pretty good so it
was a little cold but the food was good. |

We needed
an
ATV Permit for the trails and Sand Lake so we bought one. Pink of
all colors!!You know someone at the Forest Service had a good laugh
about that.
The
permit is good for two years but everyone who bought one seemed to be planning
to "renew" it next year to get a better color. |
